Ordinary Time
Pentecost Sunday + Ordinary Time
Pentecost is the celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit… appearing like a sudden rush of wind, like tongues of fire, filling our hearts and binding us together. During this season we say, “Come, Holy Spirit. Lead us where you will,” as we learn to trust the God who hides in plain sight, closer than our breath, yet forever just beyond our grasp. As we step into that great cloud of unknowing, God meets us in the spaces we cannot map or measure. On Pentecost we also celebrate the birth of the church… born not of doctrines or beliefs, but of a trembling openness to God’s presence in the world. We join in the life of God by participating in the life of the church… the body of Christ, the new temple… alive with God’s presence, embodying God’s peace, and extending this to the world around us.
Pentecost Sunday
THANK YOU.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your support through your prayers, tithes, and labor in the work of our church. Your commitment and generosity play an essential role in creating a vibrant community of faith, and we are inspired by your friendship and participation. Together, we are inviting our community and neighborhood to make meaning of their lives and participate in the life giving presence of God in our lives.

Ordinary Time Ministry Updates
Thank you for your faithful stewardship and service to Redemption Church. Each act of generosity and sacrifice—financial support, service, prayers, & relationships—brings Redemption Church to life in tangible, touchable ways. This is faith-ing it: bringing our best to God, creating spaces where God can happen to us, where we can embody peace in our common life and extend that peace to our neighbors.

Harvesters Food distribution
On Saturday, June 6, from 12:15–2:00 PM, we will once again partner with Harvesters to provide food to families in our community who are facing food insecurity. This monthly distribution is one of the most tangible ways we get to serve our neighbors with compassion, dignity, and hope. Each month, hundreds of households rely on this support—and our volunteers make it possible. From helping direct traffic, to loading boxes, to offering a warm smile and a word of encouragement, every role matters. If you’re able to lend a hand, we would love to have you join us. It’s a simple way to make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors. NOTE: there will be NO food distribution in July
Good Faith Network Celebration
While in the season of Pentecost—when the Spirit ignites courage, unity, and bold public witness—we are invited to join with churches across Johnson County for the Good Faith Network Celebration. Pentecost reminds us that when the Spirit moves, God’s people step out of their comfort zones, link arms with one another, and work for healing and justice in their communities.
That is exactly what the Good Faith Network is about. Together, we are a part of this movement addressing real needs in our county: mental health access, homelessness, affordable housing, and the dignity of every neighbor. This celebration is a moment to give thanks, to hear stories of impact, and to renew our shared commitment to the work God has placed before us.
We would love for you to join us as we gather with congregations across the region to celebrate what the Spirit is doing among us. June 14 at 3:00-Islamic Center of Johnson County
Summer Cooling Center
As temperatures rise and many public buildings close for the holiday, we want to make sure our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a safe, cool place to rest. On Friday, June 19, Redemption will open its doors as a Summer Cooling Center, offering air‑conditioning, cold drinks, light snacks, and a welcoming presence for anyone who needs relief from the heat.
To make this possible, we need volunteers who can offer kindness, conversation, and a steady presence. Roles include greeting guests, serving refreshments, helping maintain a peaceful environment, and simply being a compassionate neighbor. If you’re able to help for an hour or two, we’d love to have you join us in this meaningful work.
Art & Sports Camp
Summer is almost here, and we’re gearing up for an unforgettable week at Redemption! From June 22–26, kids from across our neighborhood are invited to jump into our Art & Sports Camp—a high‑energy blend of creativity, teamwork, and summer fun.
This week isn’t just about games and projects—it’s about building friendships, discovering new skills, and giving kids a place to belong.
Our coaches, artists, and mentors are ready to cheer kids on as they explore the power of play and imagination. And in this Pentecost season, we celebrate the same Spirit who brings people together—through laughter, creativity, and shared moments that shape us.

Redemption Roundtables
God so often meets us in the places we cannot map and in the spirit of Pentecost, Redemption offers a place to question, connect and learn, it's called a Roundtable and we host one every season. Bring your questions, spiritual wonderings, and doubts to this conversation. All are welcome —no matter your background or experience. Whether you're exploring faith for the first time or holding onto faith by a thread, the Spirit is moving and may be leading you to connect with others who are challenging and deconstructing. Sunday June 21 & July 19 4:00-6:00. Childcare provided

Summer is one of the fullest seasons in U18 ministry... and this one is no exception.
Early Childhood
As we explore the mystery of Pentecost in the Godly Play room, we begin to introduce the language of the Holy Spirit through symbols like smoke from an extinguished candle, drifting bubbles, and fluttering prayer flags... tangible ways to imagine the invisible force that shapes our lives. Then, as we transition into Ordinary Time, we will spend the months of June and July exploring the parables of Jesus. We approach the parables with a sense of curiosity and wonder, inviting them to open in our hearts and to set a foundation for our understanding of what the Kingdom of God looks like in our world.
Our Early Childhood Coordinator, Jo Overholt, will be taking some time away beginning June 2 and returning July 17. During her time away, two of our own... Liz Meyer and Erin Toothaker... will be stepping in as volunteer coordinators for Early Childhood. We are so grateful for their willingness to serve.
Elementary Ministry
In the Aframe we will explore the mystery of the Holy Spirit as it comes at Pentecost and still is at work among us. We will be sad to see our 5th graders go, but we are excited to welcome our new Kindergarteners on Promotion Sunday.
This summer we will explore some classic stories from the Old Testament together as well as some of Jesus' parables. Inspired by Meredith Miller's insights, we'll continue to cultivate curiosity and wonder. On Sunday, June 7, we celebrate Promotion Sunday... one of the most meaningful mornings of the year for U18 families at Redemption. This is our annual milestone ceremony, woven into the Sunday morning service, where we publicly honor students who are moving from one U18 community to the next.
This year we have two transitions to celebrate. Our preschoolers moving into Kindergarten will be recognized and sent into the Elementary years. Our 5th graders moving into 6th grade will be commissioned into Youth Ministry. Tim Suttle will close the ceremony with a blessing over all the students and families.
If your child is being promoted this year, watch for communication from your ministry coordinator. And if you are simply a part of the Redemption family... come ready to cheer. These moments belong to the whole church.
Summer Interns
On June 1, nine college-aged young adults will begin a ten-week summer internship at Redemption Church. They come to serve alongside staff in Sunday morning production, Wednesday night youth ministry, and community outreach... and they bring with them a relational energy that shapes everything they touch. If you see a new face on a Sunday or a Wednesday evening this summer, introduce yourself.
Youth Ministry
Wednesday night youth group continues through the summer with a seasonal rhythm. June opens with a welcome gathering for our incoming 6th graders on June 10... a big night for students making the move from Elementary into Youth for the first time. From there, the summer unfolds with movie nights, pool parties, and scavenger hunts through July. Dates and details are on the church calendar.
Ridgeview Art & Sports Camp
One of the highlights of the summer... and one of the most meaningful things we do all year... is Ridgeview Art & Sports Camp. This is a free community event hosted at Redemption Church, June 22-26, Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to noon. It is open to children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade in the fall, and it is our gift to the Olathe community... no cost, no strings attached.
The week is led by our staff, volunteers, and summer interns, with creative art projects through the AFRAME Art Studio and sports and games spread across the property.
Registration is open now. Share it with your neighbors, your coworkers, the families on your street. This event is especially meaningful when it reaches people who don't yet know us.
