Redemption Church Emergency Action Plan

Level 01: there are cases of COVID-19 in Johnson County in which the virus has spread from one member of the community to another, not just from outside exposure (i.e., the virus is “out” in JoCo).

Essential to Communicate: The church has been at its best in the past when disease rips through society. So, we are asking our members to be good neighbors. Talk to your neighbors. Look for ways to serve those who might be at high risk and need to stay at home. RC will continue to worship together and serve our community. We will not be suspending our ministries at this time, but will be taking precautions to make sure we are not spreading infection.

  • If you are sick or think you may be exposed to the virus, please stay home.

  • If you are at risk or just feel uncomfortable attending, stay home & feel no guilt.

  • Don’t shake hands; put a hand over your heart or touch elbows instead.

  • We’ll put a little more distance in between chairs in our worship space.

  • We’ll limit the number of toys in children’s ministry & disinfect throughout the morning.

  • We’ll disinfect surfaces and door handles throughout the morning & during the week.

  • We’ll make hand sanitizer stations available throughout the building.

  • Communion will be optional, and nobody should feel bad about refraining.

  • Please join our private Facebook Group so we can share with each other confidentially.

  • Send us your input & ideas so we can adjust our plans in the coming weeks.

Level 02: somebody in our congregation has a confirmed case of COVID-19 but has not been in contact with the congregation; or local health authorities close schools and ask JoCo to stay home if possible.

Essential to Communicate: So long as it does not violate the requests or demands of health authorities, we will continue to meet on Sunday, and continue our various ministries and services to those on the margins of our neighborhood and city as per usual. We understand that many will not be able to attend or serve in their usual capacity, so we will broadcast our worship service online.

  • Please communicate to church staff if you or anybody in your household has been infected or exposed.

  • RC hopes to stay available to those who need assistance due to exposure, sickness, or quarantine.

  • Keep checking our private Facebook Group so we can share concerns and be present to one another..

  • Please do not come to worship if you are sick or think you may have been exposed to the virus.

  • Our Sunday worship services will be streamed online for those who cannot attend in person.

  • We will evaluate our various ministry & missional events and communicate as needed.

Level 03: somebody that has attended a Redemption Church event has a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Essential to Communicate: We will work with authorities (i.e. public health departments) and follow their procedures for making our building safe. Updates and info will be made available through email, website, and social media.

  • It’s likely the health department will order the building closed for a period of time, and deep cleaned.

  • Those with direct exposure to the infected person will be asked stay home for a 14-day self monitor.

  • We will work to alert everyone who might have had contact with the infected person.

  • RC gatherings and ministries will be postponed until cleared by local health departments.

  • Pending health department approval, RC Sunday gatherings will be relocated until the building is re-opened.

  • If asked, RC will suspend meeting in large groups for a longer duration (per health officials).

  • In case of widespread quarantine, we will try to assist those who need assistance.

  • Continue to check the private Facebook Group to share information, concerns, and to be present to each other.
