Pentecost is the celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit… appearing like a sudden rush of wind, like tongues of fire, filling our hearts and binding us together. During this season we say, “Come, Holy Spirit. Lead us where you will,” as we learn to trust the God who hides in plain sight, closer than our breath, yet forever just beyond our grasp. As we step into that great cloud of unknowing, God meets us in the spaces we cannot map or measure. On Pentecost we also celebrate the birth of the church…born not of doctrines or beliefs, but of a trembling openness to God’s presence in the world. We join in the life of God by participating in the life of the church… the body of Christ, the new temple… alive with God’s presence, embodying God’s peace, and extending this to the world around us.
@ Redemption Church
On Pentecost Sunday during communion we invite our community to do two things:
If you would like to join Redemption Church you can walk to the front, write your name in our membership book and then sign your rock and place your rock alongside the other members of Redemption Church.
If you are already a member of Redemption Church and you would like to remember or recommit your membership, you are welcome to find your rock amongst the others and take a moment to confirm your membership at Redemption to God and to the community.
