U18 Ministry
Kindergarten through 5th grade

Elementary Ministry

These are the years a child stops hearing Bible stories as stories about other people ... and starts hearing them as a story they are standing inside of.

Plan a Visit
Milestones

The milestones of these years.

Milestones are where a child begins to learn the story of God ... and how that story connects to common practice and common life.

The rhythm

Sunday mornings, kindergarten through fifth grade.

Children check in on Sunday morning, then stay in the service until the blessing of the children ... that is when they go to their classroom, and to adults who have been screened, trained, and prepared for that specific age. They come back into the sanctuary after the sermon, for communion. Most Sundays look the same on purpose ... a child who can predict the room is a child who can settle into it.

Most Sundays

Elementary classrooms

Our elementary room is organized in large group and small groups. Kids hear the story of God together, then practice listening and discussing it in small groups. Every child is released only to the adult who brought them.

First Sunday of the month

Sacred Space Sunday

Sacred Space is a monthly practice where our elementary kids are reminded that prayer, contemplation, and meditation are important spiritual practices ... ones that guide them as they discover their faith, and what God might be inviting them to participate in.

Summer

Elementary Art and Sports Camp

Our summer camp for our elementary kids and our neighborhood friends ... a week where over 100 kids and 50 volunteers come together for play, fun, and friendship.

For families

What parents ask us.

The milestone classes are for both of you

The Bible Class and the Eucharist Class are for parents and children together. That is deliberate. We are not trying to hand your child a faith you are not part of.

Who is in the room

Every volunteer in an elementary classroom completes a background check before they serve. They are scheduled and trained in advance.

Join us

Come and see, come and serve.

The best way to know whether this is a good place for your family is to join us. And if you have already been around a while, you are invited to participate in the spiritual formation of the youngest members in our community.
