Tim Suttle

Lead Pastor
Started on Staff — September 2002
Email: tims@redemptionchurchkc.com
Suttles Tim is one of the founding pastors of Redemption Church. For the first five years of Redemption Church, Tim was the worship leader & co-pastor. In 2008 he was asked to assume the duties of lead pastor and primary teacher. This is actually the 3rd church plant Tim has been involved with (Lakeland Community Church/1996, Vintage Church/2004) which only means he is a brute for punishment! Tim came to Redemption from the band Satellite Soul, which was signed to Ardent/Forefront records and toured all over the country, releasing 3 records nationally and recording 8 top ten songs. Now his passion is for the church and for learning, as he is a little over 2/3's of the way through an MDiv at Nazarene Theological Seminary. When asked about his philosophy of ministry Tim replied, "I really hope that I can help Redemption become a place where people begin to see themselves in the story of God. I believe that God is making all things new and my hope is to help lead our church in the discussion of what it means to see where God is at work in the world and join with God's redemption." Tim has a BS in Life Science from Kansas State University and lives just off K-10 in Olathe with his wife Kristin and two boys, Nicholas and Lewis. Tim is an avid reader who "loves a good spiritual conversation more than just about anything." His hobbies are reading, playing in bands, producing records, and blogging.

His "favorites" folder would include: conceptionabbey.orgnascar.comtimsuttle.blogspot.comexplorefaith.org/prayer/fixed

Kerrie Thomsen

Children's Ministry Director
Started on staff — April of 2006
Email: jtktandthepak@kc.rr.com
Suttles Kerrie is the Director of the Children's Ministry Division at Redemption where she leads a team of outstanding volunteer leaders who do ministry with kids. When asked about her philosophy of ministry Kerrie said "I love kids and think that they are the future of our church. If you can teach a child about Christ at a young age, Jesus will be in their heart no matter what life throws at them, or where they go. You should never bore a child with God, God is cool and FUN! Parents should be the spiritual leaders of their children, so the church should come along side and partner with parents in teaching kids about Jesus." Kerrie attended Bradley University in Peoria Illinois where she met her husband Jeff. They live just off of K-10 highway in Lenexa and have three children Kadi, Parker and Alaina, and a dog named Bailey. Kerrie grew up going to the Catholic Church, but comes to us directly from Heartland Community Church in Overland Park where she was on staff for 10 years as a children's minister. She loves traveling "anywhere, anytime!" and her kids are her favorite pastime.

Kerrie loves to read and learn and some of her favorite internet links are travel sites, "Since I like to travel pathetically, I am on Hilton, RCI and Southwest Airlines almost everyday!"

Started on staff January 2006.
Email: kristend@heartlandk10.com
Kristin de la Durantaye Kristen’s role as Administrative Assistant/Office Manager involves an incredible amount of flexibility and patience. She has a hand in much of what goes on behind the scenes at our church - things like phones, mail, email, announcements, bookkeeping and scheduling, printing, marketing, planning etc. In addition, Kristen works closely with Kevin, Tim and Ben in getting things ready for Sundays, helping them with task focused in order to free them up to focus on ministry. When asked about her philosophy of ministry, Kristen said “Having this opportunity has been a great blessing. It allows me to utilize my strengths in a way that can benefit the Redemption ministry and it’s really fun to be involved in something important.” Kristen grew up in Kansas City and attended College Church of the Nazarene “until I went to college and took a walk down a different path! Fortunately, God didn’t give up on me and guided me to hk.10. Ken and I started coming the first Sunday at Meadow Lane and now, here we are!” Kristen has three almost complete degrees: Art Education, Art History, and Ceramics having studied at Southern Nazarene University (on a softball scholarship), Emporia State, & JCCC. Beth Price

Compassion Ministry Leader
Started on staff May 2008
Email:

Prices Beth is the leader of the Compassion Ministry at Redemption Church. This is our ministry to bring Jesus’ love to our community and the world in practical ways. When asked about her purpose in the ministry, she said, “I believe God is growing in me a heart of compassion which was wildly underdeveloped. He is showing me that to know Him is to understand that compassion is His reason for giving life, and that to model our lives after Jesus is to live a compassionate life. I believe that God desires me to help people to understand the compassionate life He has called us to, and to help them to begin to love others as He loves us – in real and practical ways.” Beth came to Redemption Church with her family in 2005, and has been involved in the church’s information table on Sunday mornings, is leading a community group, is a part of the family productions in our kids program and has recently become a part of the Elder Board. Beth graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Administration. She now lives in Olathe with her husband Marty, and three boys, Brad, Matthew and Sam. Her passions include sharing Jesus with people, watching tennis, and reading.

Her “favorites” folder includes the website for the most recent tennis match, foodnetwork.com, and brianregan.com.

Sara Kline

Student Ministry Coordinator
Started on Staff Spring 2008
Email:
Suttles Sara is the Student Ministry Coordinator at Redemption where she leads a team of outstanding volunteer leaders who do ministry with junior high and high school kids. Sara believes that her role as a junior and senior high leader is to work with young kids establishing a love of Christ so that they will take that love with them when they leave the home. "This is a critical age for our kids. It's important that we teach them the love Christ has for us but also a firm knowledge of the Bible and of Christianity so that they are equipped to leave the home and still follow Jesus." Sara wants all her kids to have an authentic relationship with Christ and work through the difficult times of junior and senior high with the knowledge that Jesus will never leave us. Sara went to Kansas State University and married her High School sweetheart, Aaron. They live in Olathe with their two daughters, Amelia and Lydia. Sara loves reading, knitting and has found a new found love of tennis. (although she says she never gets to play!)

ELDERS

Redemption church is led through the partnership of pastoral staff, church staff and the elders. These three groups work together to discern God’s leading for our church and then to plan and execute toward that leading. The elders have final say over staffing, financial, and spiritual leadership issues. We attempt to do everything by consensus and generally abide by the admonition from scripture: “be subject to one another.” We do everything out in the open and anyone can see our budget/financial records at any time. Our current elders are:

  • Jodi Bertram

  • Tyler Pittenger

  • Beth Price

  • Scott Robinette

  • Jim Schmidt

  • Tim Suttle
