Get InvolvedWe have a saying at Redemption Church that “everybody works!” This helps us remember one of the most important teachings of Jesus: we will find our lives by giving them away on behalf of others. Ok, what it the heck does that mean? Simply this: the Kingdom of Earth is about scratching your way to the top of the heap – whatever that heap may be. When we participate in the Kingdom of Earth, we worry about things like needing a promotion at work, needing to make more money, needing to have our kids be perfect…things like that. None of those things are bad in and of themselves, but basically Jesus taught that Kingdom of Earth thinking makes us worry about ourselves too much. He said that the Kingdom of God comes very differently – it comes not by trying to be the first and most important, but by being the last, the least, the meek, or the servant. This is an essential reality which helps to explain why we think it is so important to serve on a ministry team. When we are serve others, we participate in the Kingdom of God! God is with us when we serve in a way that is significant. That’s why we say "everybody works". We believe that serving on a ministry team creates a sense of ownership and an opportunity for growth that can’t be found in any other way. Join a team and make a difference! If you are looking for a place to start serving here are a few suggestions: Join one of the “big 3” teams. These are large teams which serve in essential areas with lots of variety. You can join one of these teams and bounce around a little to find a place that fits. Serving here will also give you exposure to lots of other areas of service so you can pick a new place if these don’t work. The “big 3” teams are a great place to start…they are:
